La Escola de Musica i Danses de Mallorca offers this dance show and cavallets cotoners in the plaza de Santa Pagesa of Palma. The cavallets of Mallorca are brothers of the ones we can find in other places of Europe, the church used them to solemnize processions, morality or dramatic interludes in the Middle Ages. The guilds of trades established in Mallorca had their own collas, like the cotoners of Palma.
The tradition of the cavallers was maintained until 1777, when a royal disposition of Carlos III prevented these dances within the churches, and with the suppression years after the guilds.
