Letras de batalla o amor( Letters of battle or love) is the title of the inaugural lecture of the Mallorcan writer Carme Riera closing the last block of the extensive thematic lecture series entitled Find the word, organized by the Catalan d'Activitat Culturals (Cultural Activities) of the University of the Balearic Islands.
Riera, born in Palma in 1948, is Professor of Literature and also writer and translator. She became known in 1975 with the publication of the book Te deix, amor, la mar com a penyora, considered a best-seller of Catalan literature.
She is the author of books like the Dins el darrer blau (Within the last blue), La meitat de l’ànima (Half of the soul) or L'estiu de l'anglès (English Summer), among others. In 2012 she was appointed a member of the Royal Spanish Academy.
