This ensemble is made up of four members of the Zemtsov family: the brothers Alexander and Mikhail (children of the Russian composer Evgeni Zemtsov), Mikhail's wife, Julia, and Dana, their daughter. Each one develops a brilliant professional career as soloists and professors in conservatories of Holland, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
In this concert of the International Festival of Music of Deià they offer a program composed by Notturno for four violas, by von Weinzierl (1841-1898); Fantasy for four violas 10, by Y. Bowen (1884-1961); Viola Quartetto, by G. Pappini (1846-1912); Piece for four violas (commissioned by Zemtsov Altviool Quartet), by A. Werkman (1960); Lament for two violas (Mikhail, Alexander), from F. Bridge (1879-1941); Rumanian Dances for two violas (Julia, Dana), by Nelu Fieraru (1953); And Verano porteno, Milonga del Angel, Death of the Angel for four violas (arrangements by E. Zemtsov), by A. Piazzolla (1921-1992).
Deià International Music Festival, with artistic direction by Alfredo Oyágüez Montero (Madrid, 1967), is celebrated from May 4 to October 5 with concerts in la Sala de Música de la Casa Museu de Son Marroig, one of the Old properties of the Archduke Luis Salvador in the Serra de Tramuntana. From its terraces you can see a spectacular sunset over the sea.
