Last concert of the XXXIII International Chopin Festival of Valldemossa. The Northern Irish mezzo Zandra McMaster, currently residing in Madrid, and pianist Rubén Fernández Aguirre put the finishing touch with a lyrical evening which will feature the verses of great Spanish poets.
The program consists, in its first part, songs of Wesendonck to commemorate the bicentenary of the birth of Richard Wagner, and three sonnets of Petrarch, by Franz Liszt.
The second part is dedicated to three songs of Op 74 by Frédéric Chopin and Songs of Valldemossa by Antón García Abril, celebrating his 80th anniversary. Nine songs with texts by Luis Rosales, Jose Garcia Nieto, José Hierro, Antonio Gala, Gerardo Diego, Dionisio Ridruejo and Salvador Espriu, of whom this year marks the centenary of his birth.
