Yevgeny Sudbin

This young Russian pianist, trained at prestigious schools in Berlin and London, opens the new edition of the Chopin Festival of Valldemossa. Yevgeny Sudbin (St. Petersburg, 1980) develops an intense activity as soloist with orchestras and performing in theaters and relevant pianistic cycles, as the Tonhalle Zurich, Royal Festival Hall in London, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Avery Fisher Hall in New York or Davies Symphony Hall San Francisco.

His interest in chamber music has led him to collaborate with musicians such as Neeme Järvi, Charles Dutoit, Osmo Vänskä, Vassily Sinaisky, Petr Altrichter, or Andrew Litton, among others.

In the cloister of the Monastery of Valldemossa, where the Chopin Festival concerts are held, Sudbin interprets a program consisting of Sonata No. 47 in B minor, Hob. XVI / 32  (1774-1776), by Joseph Haydn; Ballade No. 4 in F minor, op. 52  (1834), Frederic Chopin; L'isle joyeuse  by Claude Debussy; Masurca op. 25, No. 3  and Sonata No. 9, Op. 68 'Black Mass'  by Alexander Scriabin; and Danse Macabre  by Camille Saint-Saëns.
