Xavi Torres, 'Kind of Beethoven'

The Jazz Palma 2021 Festival presents the new project by Xavi Torres, a young pianist and composer and one of the most sought-after musicians in Europe. In 2016 he was awarded at the Keep an Eye International Jazz Competition in Amsterdam and, a year earlier, his jazz trio was chosen as Best Group 2015 by the AMJM (Asociación de Músicos de Jazz y Música Moderna de Cataluña).

In Kind of Beethoven he revisits one of the capital works of musical literature, the piano sonatas of L. van Beethoven.

Accompanied by the virtuoso of the bass clarinet Joris Roelofs and drummer Joan Terol, this concert is a journey through some of Beethoven's best-known sonatas, with Torres's special view, which explores all sound possibilities with improvisation, rhythm and new textures.
