Via Fora celebrates this year a special edition dedicated to La Germania, commemorating the 500th anniversary of one of Mallorca's historical landmarks. La Germania (1521-1523) was an uprising of the popular classes -menstrales and peasants- against the privileged estates - knights, ecclesiastics, merchants, etc. - for economic reasons.
The struggle, which lasted more than two years, ended with the victory of the oligarchy and the establishment of the previous system. The punishment and repression against the rebels was extremely harsh.
La Germania 1521-1523 is a historical theater production based on three scenes and three decisive moments in chronological order: Els agermanats 1521, Assetjament d'Alcúdia on September 1, 1522 and Carles V visits Alcúdia 1535.
