El Castell de Bellver hosts this extraordinary concert to benefit the association Amics de Tilloli featuring Studium Aureum and the early music ensemble La Caravaggia, conducted by Carles Ponseti.
They will interpretVespro Della Beata Vergine, Claudio Monteverdi’s opus magnum dedicated to the Pope Pablo V. When it was published, in 1610, it had no impact on Rome, but three years later the Italian composer was named director of the cathedral of San Marco in Venice. It is considered one of the most important works in the history of music and marks the transition between the Renaissance and Baroque.
Involved are a total of 48 musicians: eleven vocal soloists, specialized in music from this era, thirteen instrumentalists specialized in ancient instruments and a choir of 24 singers.
The association Amics de Tilloli allocate the funds to improving the boarding school in this city of India, located 200 kilometers from Bombay.
