This film series is held within the parallel activities that accompany the exhibition Towers and skyscrapers. From Babel to Dubai which can be seen at CaixaForum until 26 May.
The fascination of cinema by vertical architecture has been repeated in many films since the dawn of this industry until today. Man on Wire (2008) is a British documentary by James Marsh which tells about the tour de force starring Philippe Petit in 1974, when he walked on a wire illegally placed between the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York, the tallest buildings in the world then.
In the documentary will appear testimonies of Petit himself and of those who helped him create a unique spectacle that became known as "the artistic crime of the century '.
The Vertical plane Cinema cycle is coordinated by Fernando Lara, journalist and film writer and former director of the International Film Festival of Valladolid. The films are screened in original version with subtitles.
