The Bulgarian violinist virtuoso Vasko Vassilev (Sofia, 1970) returns this summer to Castell de Bellver in Palma with a double-function concert organized by the Associació d'Amics de la Música de les Illes Balears (Aulos).
He does it with his 2020 tour Passion flamenca, accompanied by Carlos Llave on guitar, Juan Heredia on percussion and Víctor Vallejo on piano and trumpet. The program is very eclectic, including works by Pablo de Sarasate, Paco de Lucía, Astor Piazzolla, Camille Saint-Saëns and Georges Bizet.
Vasko Vassilev had his first public appearance at the age of eight performing at the Peace Flag Children's Assembly in Sofia. That same year, 1978, he released his first album with the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra and debuted at the Ivan Vazov National Theater in the role of the young Leonardo da Vinci.
Two years later he began his studies on a government scholarship at the Moscow Conservatory Central School of Music and in 1987 he won his first international musical competition in Paris. At 23 he became the youngest concert pianist at the Royal Opera House in London, debuting as conductor in 2005 at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
Throughout his career he has worked with artists of different genres, from Plácido Domingo to Sting, The Rolling Stones or Vanessa-Mae, among many others.
