The Bulgarian violinist Vasko Vassilev and the Mallorcan pianist Miquel Estelrich open the 41st edition of the Chopin Festival held at the Cartuja de Valldemossa. They do it with a concert in which they present their record work dedicated to the works of Frédéric Chopin transcribed for violin and piano by great violinists and composers.
Vasko Vassilev (Sofia, 1970) is a prestigious violinist trained at the Moscow Conservatory and at the Guildhall School Of Music and the Royal College of Music in London. He has won important awards in international violin competitions and has been the concertmaster of the Royal Opera House in London since the age of 23. He has performed in more than twenty countries and is the founder of the instrumental group Laureate.
For his part, Miquel Estelrich is a tenured piano teacher and founder of the Conservatori Superior de Música de les Illes Balears, of which he has been director. His intense activity as a pianist has led him to perform in large theaters such as the Kennedy Center in Washington and in the most important auditoriums of Spain, Italy, Portugal, France, Germany or China as a soloist, soloist with orchestra or chamber music.
