This young Ukrainian pianist has become a phenomenon in YouTube for her expressive way of interpreting, getting more than thirty million views on this video channel. Shocking and dazzling, are some of the adjectives that her skill with the piano have earned.
Valentina Lisitsa (Kiev, 1973) started playing this instrument at age three and at four she gave her first recital. In 1991 she won the Murray Dranoff Two Piano Competition, considered the most important event of piano duets. Since then she has lived in the United States with her husband, fellow pianist Alexei Kuznetsoff, with whom she recorded two albums of duets.
Her repertoire is broad, ranging from Bach and Mozart to Shostakovich and Bernstein. She has a special affinity with Rachmaninov and Beethoven, of whom she will record his 32 sonatas, an ambitious project undertaken by very few artists.
