Trumpet course of Natsuko Sugao

One of the activities of the 24th edition of the Festival Mallorca Jazz Sa Pobla is this short course of initiation to the jazz trumpet by the Japanese Natsuko Sugao. It is celebrated from 9 to 11 August at the Escola de Música de Sa Pobla.

Born in Nara, an ancient city in Japan, Natsuko Sugao began studying classical piano at age 6 and at 13 he discovered the trumpet. With 22 he graduated from the Senzoku Gakuen music university and studied classical trumpet with Teiji Tomita, Taizo Okuyama and Jun Hasegawa.

In 2002 he moved to Barcelona and began to learn jazz music. He studied at the Superior Conservatori del Liceu (2007-2011) and received classes from Matthew Simon, Julian Sánchez and Guillermo Calliero, all of them prominent jazz trumpeters.

Natsuko Sugao shares her academic side - she is currently a professor at the Escola de Música Àngels Casas (EMAC) and the Escola de Música de Gràcia - with a successful artistic career that leads her to play, record and collaborate with various groups and artists.
