The Balearic Symphony Orchestra 'Ciutat de Palma' celebrates its New Year's concert, a tradition introduced in 1990 which maintains the spirit of those held in major European cities. It will be directed by Luis Remartínez.
The program consists of two parts. The first: The Ride of the Walquirias, by Richard Wagner, The Legend of the kiss, by Sotullo and Vert; Hungarian Rhapsody no. 2, by Franz Liszt; Waltz no. 2, Jazz Suite No. 2, by Dmitri Shostakovich, Hungarian Dance no. 5, by Johannes Brahms, Tales from the Vienna Woods by Johann Strauss, and Drum Grenadiers (prelude), by Rupert Chapí.
In the second part we can listen to Aisa (triumphal march) of Giuseppe Verdi's, Piano Concerto no. 21 ('Elvira Madigan' movement) of W.A. Mozart, Hunting Polka by J. Strauss, La Gazza Ladra (Overture), of Rossini, Roses South (Waltz) and Thunder and lightning, of J. Strauss, White Christmas, by Irving Berlin; Chariots of fire, by Vangelis; Singning in the Rain, by N. Herb y A. Freed; The Sabre dance, by A. Kachaturiam; y Carmen, by Bizet.
