From when she was 18 years old, Renate Graf began to see the world as needing to save picture books, which later lead her to a self-taught photography. Her photographs bring the viewer a contemporary vision of the world with her own aesthetic of pioneer photography.
Su obra está influenciada por el artista alemán Anselm Kiefer, uno de los más importantes del Neoexpresionismo. Fueron pareja durante diecisiete años y viajaron a zonas extremas del mundo.
Sus fotografías son valiosos documentos de lugares como Hampi, en la India, el lago Baikal, Siberia, las islas Hébrides, el cementerio de Marxer en Viena o ciertas zonas de Sicilia y Venecia. Una unidad autobiográfica que nos aproxima a la realidad como una narración abstracta.
