This work, written by Johannes Sebastian Bach in 1724, is one of the great pieces of music history. Not only for its musical beauty, the arias of the soloists or the dramatic intensity of the choral numbers, also for its aesthetic and religious entity, which explain the last moments of the life and passion of Christ according to the Gospel of St. John.
This production which is now presented in the Auditorium of Manacor will be the first time that the Passion according to St. John BWV 245 is represented only by musicians born or living in Mallorca. Intervening the Orquestra Acadèmica 1830, directed by Fernando Marina, and the choirs Cor de Cambra Ars Antiqua de Manacor (dir. Xavier Gelabert ), Chorus Pro Musica de Sóller (dir. Josep Alarcón), Coral Calvia (dir. Llorenç Gelabert ) and Cor Acadèmia 1830 (dir. Llorenç Gelabert ) .
