Based on the novel by writer Dashiell Hammett , The Maltese Falcon (1941) is the first film directed by John Huston (who also wrote the script) and is considered as the beginning of black cinema as a genre.
In the leading roles are featured Humphrey Bogart (private detective Sam Spade), Mary Astor (Miss Ruth Wonderly), Peter Lorre and Gladys George.
With The Maltese Falcon, CineCiutat begins the cycle Cinèfilms that includes twelve classics of film history in original version with subtitles in Castilian.
An hour before the projection, at 19:30 pm, will take place the opening ceremony of the cycle and at the end of the film, a film forum on the movie led by journalist Rafael Gallego.
