The Year Campins-Gaudí (2014-2015), organized by the Cathedral of Mallorca, commemorates the reform entrusted to modernist architect Antoni Gaudí in this gothic church.
The works, which were conducted between 1904 and 1914, only reached the rearrangement of the interior, as Gaudí abandoned the project before starting work on the facade, badly damaged after the earthquake of 1851. In 1915 the great promoter of this reform project, the Mallorcan Bishop Joan Campins died.
Among the activities taking place throughout 2014 and 2015 is the lecture series that begins today with Armand Puig, of the Faculty of Theology of Catalonia. He will discuss the gaudian symbolism in the Sagrada Familia of Barcelona and in La Seu of Mallorca.
