Is it possible to provide a musical work itself abstract, of a testamentary character? This lecture series tries to answer this question by analyzing six masterpieces influenced by the approach of death of their authors.
The cycle consists of five conferences held from November 6 to 29. In charge of the seminar’s presentations is musicologist and music programmer Luis Gago.
Program:
Wednesday, 6. Johann Sebastian Bach: The Art of Fugue and Minor Mass
Friday 8. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Requiem and The Magic Flute
Friday, 15. Ludwig van Beethoven: The Late Quartets and Missa Solemnis
Friday, 22. Franz Schubert: Winterreise and Schwanengesang
Friday, 29. Verdi versus Wagner: Parsifal and Falstaff
