The Cicle Quintet, 'The Sounds of Chick Corea'

On February 9, the international jazz community was shocked by the death of American pianist and composer Chick Corea. We lost one of the forerunners of jazz-rock, of fusion and, at the same time, one of the musicians who vindicated the jazz tradition, both acoustically and electrically.

The Jazz Palma 2021 Festival pays tribute to this essential figure of music with its own production. The Circle Quintet is a quintet created for the occasion and made up of musicians of proven relevance on the local, national and international scene. Great connoisseurs of Corea’s repertoire, as they have frequently included his compositions in their individual projects.

This quintet is made up of Armando Lorente (vibraphone), Toni Cuenca (bass and double bass), Pierre Bauzerand (piano and keyboards), Toni Cuenca Jr. (drums) and Roberto Uque (saxophone).
