Traditionally, la Virgen de la Asunción (the Assumption of the Virgin ) is the religious festival of summer in the Mediterranean. In Mallorca it is lived in a special way since the fourteenth century, with a series of rituals, theatrical performances and protocols that accompany the mystery of death and the crowning of the Virgin.
An intangible heritage that the Consell de Mallorca wants to safeguard with this exhibition of the beds of the Virgin in 53 churches on the island. The program is complemented by activities such as lectures, visits to the Museu de Mallorca or the contemporary installation of Pep Guerrero at the Church of los Sagrats Cors de Palma (until 18 August).
