The Assumption of the Virgin

Around 15 August, in many churches of Mallorca are installed catafalques and beds that represent the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. These sets, together with processions, novenas, music and other manifestations of popular character, are remnants of a ritual protocol that had its peak in the Baroque period.

ARCA, Fundació Amics del Patrimoni and the Consell de Mallorca organize a cultural program that will be developed during the month of August in temples and villages of Palma de Mallorca.
