First solo exhibition by German artist Johannes Schramm (1965) in the CCA Andratx. Schramm, who was a swimmer offers in Still Water a wide variety of beautiful aquatic still lifes in interior and exterior landscapes , with the aim of representing water in many diferent situations.
The works in the exhibition can be divided into three thematic series: Series of swimming Pools, Series of Buoys and the Water Lilies series. Despite the somewhat kaleidoscopic sensation, the works lead the viewer into a state of comfortable meditative tranquility, where time and place temporarily cease to exist. A state that, according to Schramm, may resemble what a swimmer feels at his best moment.
In the universe of Schramm, water is the magical element turned into impressive paintings that allow us to enter a fantastic and apocalyptic universe.
