He is considered one of the leading electric guitarists and a revolutionary within the instrumental rock. Steve Vai was in Mallorca last year, ending his tour The Story Of Light, and is now back again at the Jazz Voyeur Festival with Passion and Warfare, a tour with which it celebrates the 25th anniversary of the publication of this studio album by the US musician.
Steve Vai (Long Island, New York, 1960) began his career working for Frank Zappa as a guitarist, first doing the transcripts of his guitar parts, to later on join the band of this legendary musician, producer and songwriter.
Vai has also worked with other leading musicians, both in recordings and in concerts. These include Ozzy Osbourne, Alice Cooper, David Lee Roth, Whitesnake, Joe Satriani, Motorhead or Brian May. Solo he has released fifteen albums, composed nine soundtracks and has won three Grammy awards. The Story Of Light (2012) is his first studio album in seven years, a dozen themes reminiscent of the expressive 2005 album Real Illusions Reflections.
Steve Vai also has a philanthropic side. Among other things, he is the founder of Make A Noise, a foundation dedicated to providing musical instruments and training to underprivileged children.
