This year, the International Music Festival Torre de Canyamel pays homage to the Russian pianist and composer Alexander Scriabin (1872-1915), commemorating the centenary of his death. Therefore, the program could not be without a specialist in his music the likes of pianist and composer Sergei Dreznin (Moscow, 1955), who proposes a lecture-recital that includes one of his last compositions, the poem Vers la flamme that Scriabin wrote in 1914.
The program is completed with Etude Op. 8 No. 10 in sharp minor, op Edute. 8 No 11 in B flat minor, Mazurka op. 25 No. 1 in F minor, Mazurka op. 25 No. 2 in C major, Mazurka op. 25 No. 3 in E minor, Sonata No. 5 op. 52 and three Etudes op. 65.
The International Music Festival Torre de Canyamel is sponsored by Kawai and Caixa Colonya and is organized by the Mallorca Summer Academy and Torre de Canyamel, a spectacular square tower built in the XIII century to defend the inhabitants of the valley of Canyamel, in Capdepera. Currently it serves as a museum and a center of events, art exhibitions and musical performances. A splendid place to enjoy good music.
Oscar Caravaca is the artistic director of this edition, which will be held from June 21 to 26 and will be overturned in the close relationship between colors and music, as a tribute to Russian composer Alexander Scriabin (1872-1915) in the first centenary his death. Besides concerts, there will be master classes of pianist Dina Parakhina and a lecture by pianist and musicologist Luca Chiantore.
With the aim of promoting new generations of musicians, the course will feature concerts by artists under sixteen years old like Thumpussorn, a Thai girl that with just eight years old made her debut at Carnegie Hall in New York a few months ago. All concerts will be broadcast online.
