Old music, especially Gregorian chant is the universe in which this formation moves. And not just in the field of interpretation as they are also engaged in study and research.
Schola Antiqua was founded in 1984 by Laurentino Saenz de Buruaga and is directed since 1996 by Juan Carlos Asensio. All components were formed as children in the choir of la Abadía de Santa Cruz del Valle de los Caídos, in Madrid. It has participated in a lot of festivals in Europe and the U.S. and among its most notable collaborations is included the recording of the soundtrack of Goya's Ghosts, a film of 2006 directed by Milos Forman.
The performance of Schola Antiqua, a program monodies and medieval polyphony, begins the International Music Festival of Palma, dedicated to the great masters of transcendental music. It consists of five concerts to be held until 28 June at the Teatre Principal.
