Es Baluard participates in the celebration of San Sebastian with this activity linked to the saint and the city of Palma. It begins with a visit to Reproductibilidad 1.2 (Reproducibility 1.2), by museum director and curator of the exhibition Nekane Aramburu.
Continuously a symposium will be celebrated entitled Lanzas a la adolescencia gay Lances to gay adolescence, which will depart from the representation of the martyrdom of San Sebastián from the perspective of film language. Sebastian, a Roman soldier of the fourth century who during the Middle Ages was canonized as a saint, became an icon in the second half of the twentieth century of the gay culture.
Guiem Obrador (playwright, actor, theater director and teacher) will analyze the life and martyrdom of the saint in the film Sebastiane (1976), by the writer, poet, designer, painter and filmmaker Derek Jarman. Discussed will be the activist struggle for gay rights of the author and his context until his death in 1994 and some references will be made to films that directly or indirectly deal with the homophobe harassment to adolescents.
