SFJazz Collective is an ensemble composed of eight of the interpreters and most talented jazz composers of today. This year it returns to the Jazz Voyeur Festival with a repertoire of Miles Davis, of whom this fall marks the 25th anniversary of his death.
The Californian band, which began its career in 2004, cultivates a distinctive sound and for this purpose it organizes an annual meeting that lasts several weeks at its San Francisco headquarters. In these periods of rehearsals - a rarity in the world of jazz - the octet works on its new repertoire and interacts with the community of the bay area through educational programs aimed at adults and the elderly.
After this stage of rehearsals, the Collective moves on to the execution phase: it goes on stage to offer concerts at the SFJAZZ Center and then embarks on national and international tours, stopping at some of the most important festivals and venues in the world.
This event of the Jazz Voyeur Festival has a double performance, as we can also listen to Giulia Valle Trio, formed by Giulia Valle (bandleader, double bass), Marco Mezquida (piano) and David Xirgu (drums).
