The second appointment with the XXX Opera Season of the Teatre Principal of Palma is this semi-staged concert version of the famous opera Salome by Richard Strauss, author of the music and the libretto, which was based on the play by Oscar Wilde.
It is an opera in German, as Strauss based it on Hedwig Lachmann's German translation of the original French. It was released in December 1905 in the Königliches Opernhaus of Dresden after being banned in Vienna to be considered libidinous by the Puritans. The action takes place on a moonlit night at the palace of Herod and tells the story of Salome and John the Baptist.
This production of the Teatre Principal de Palma has musical direction by Guillermo García-Calvo, stage direction of Jaume Martorell and the participation of Orquestra Simfònica Illes Balears.
Featuring, among others, Nicola Beller-Carbone, Peter Svenson, Iris Vermilion, Frederique Sizaret, Bartomeu Bibiloni, Joan Miquel Ribot, Antoni Aragón, Antoni Lliteres, Roger Berenguer, Joan Carles Falcó, Josep Miquel Ribot and Miguel Sola.
