The alma mater of this initiative is the Mallorcan Toni Vaquer, one of the most exalted musicians of the newest batches of jazz in our country. The 30th edition of the Mallorca Jazz Sa Pobla Festival opens with a group of gifted musicians from Mallorca who present for the first time in this concert.
Musician, composer, arranger and pianist, Toni Vaquer graduated in the Conservatori del Liceu in modern piano and in the Berklee Global Jazz Institute in piano and composition, being founder of the Berklee Global Jazz Orquesta.
In 2010 he wrote 366 compositions that were later shaped by the six suites of Vertebrats, disc of David Mengual's Free Spirits Big Band, of which he has been an official arranger for five years.
He currently writes for other formations such as DO New Ensemble or the group of Andrea Motis & Joan Chamorro, among others. In 2014 he created his own orchestra The Voodoo Children Collective and has recently formed a new sextet project and a trio.
