2014 marked the tenth anniversary of the death of the American singer, saxophonist and pianist Ray Charles (1930-2004), a key figure in the history of jazz and soul. The Old & New Big Band, a group created in 2015 in Inca and directed by saxophonist Luis Depestre dedicates its first project to this artist blind since childhood who in 1987 was awarded the Grammy Award for his artistic career.
It consists of fourteen professional musicians, who will interpret a selection of the most popular songs of Charles, as Hit the road Jack, Unchain my heart or Georgia on my mind, among others.
The voice of Ray Charles will be replaced by Arthur Hensen, an artist with a rich voice that allows a total versatility when he interprets. They participate in Inca jazz 2015.
