Qànât

This curious musical project interrelates Mediterranean folk music with Mesopotamian and Persian music, with compositions by Tomeu Gomila and Pegah Khoei.

Qànât discovers the links between the old work songs of the Balearic Islands, to be sung in the fields, and the old songs of the Byzantine chants, with very similar melodies. This makes them especially interesting to be interwoven with music from the Middle East and Central Asia such as Iran, Turkey, Tajikistan and the ancient Khorasan region.

Repertoire:

Sant Antoni / Llum de totes les espelmes
Voldria que Deu poses en el cel una envelada / Guardian of the heart
Tornada de collir figues / Let go of your tricks
Tornadar d'esterrossar / One night Majnun and Leyli
Val mes ser a Formentor / Play softly
L'any 40 vaig segar / My heart is tangled somewhere
Una cançó em demanau / Golden wheat Straw
Miserlú / Garden in spring
La flor de la passion / The graceful beloved

With Tomeu Gomila (vocals and accordion), Pegah Khoei (vocals, setar and bendir) and Toni Vich (vocals and ceramic instruments).
