Little Sun is a solar flashlight LED technology developed by artist Olafur Eliasson and engineer Frederik Ottesen, created as a global social project with the aim of supplying light to 1.2 billion people without access to electricity.
Currently is available in eight African countries: Zimbabwe, Uganda, Kenya, Burundi, Senegal, Ethiopia, Nigeria, and South Africa as well as in Europe, the United States, Canada, Australia and Japan.
Is purchased at a higher price in the areas of the world with electricity so that the lamps can be sold in areas without electricity more affordable, and equitable distribution of resources and systems.
Little Sun is part of Paisatges sostenibles (Sustainable Paisatges), a Es Baluard's stable program linking artistic creation with ecology and sustainable development through public actions.
