After the success of Manacor Encantat, the Manacor City Council launches the new campaign to boost tourism and commercial Porto Cristo, la mar de guapo. This time the initiative focuses on the marine theme and, from July 2 to September 2, this nucleus will be decked out with elements that will give it a fantastic fairy tale appearance.
This marine setting will consist of a large figure representing a fisherman, which will be installed in Plaça de l'Aljub, and a cap-roig, a maiden and a raor on the Paseo de la Sirena.
In addition, the main streets of Porto Cristo, calle Bordils and avenida dels Pins, are decorated with nets that go from one side of the street to the other and from which hang fish and jellyfish. There are also four large lighted jellyfish installed in different places to visualize the entrance to Porto Cristo, la mar de guapo. The author of the figures is Toni Galmés, who has also made the figures of Pegasus and the fairy in Manacor Encantat.
Other elements are the benches and flowerpots in Plaça de l'Aljub painted with bright colors and graffiti of phrases and sayings of fishermen such as' Si la mar buida fort, senyal de vent nord.
As in the previous campaign, the shop window contest is held, which also has a marine theme. Registrations can be made from July 9 to 14 and the bases will be posted on the Manacor City Council website.
