Pedro Flores

Simplicity in large-scale works and the use of stone and iron are the hallmarks of Andalusian sculptor Pedro Flores (Jaén, 1961), a resident of Mallorca for years. In his more than 30 years of artistic life, there have been many sculptural stages through which he has passed, and this exhibition at the Dionís Bennàssar Gallery in Pollença brings together a small part of them.

Under the influence of Julio González, Chillida or Heny Moore, Pedro Flores expressed his first artistic concerns creating from abstract to realistic figures. He conjugates the elements used (wood, plastic, stainless steel, polished stone...) turning them into inanimate objects.

Nowadays, with iron and stone as the only two main materials, he builds mainly on a large scale, even though his hands do not tremble in making miniatures.
