Created in 1995 by Barry Sargent and Ventura Rico, this orchestra is situated at the highest level of Spanish groups dedicated to the interpretation of early music with historicist criteria. Since then it has won numerous awards and honors, including the National Music Prize 2011 awarded by the Ministry of Culture of Spain, in the field of interpretation. Since 2001 its artistic director is Peter Martin Gandia, although in this concert the baton will be taken by one of the concert directors, the acclaimed Argentine violinist Paul Valetti.
The program is entitled Barroco Europeo entre lo fúnebre y lo teatral (European Baroque, between funeral and theatrical) and consists of works by Locatelli, Handel, Avison and Bach.
