Open day at the Museum of Pollença

On the occasion of International Museum Day 2013, the Museu de Pollença celebrates this open day. It is located in the former Dominican monastery, built between 1588 and 1616. It houses pieces of contemporary and Gothic art, the collection of Argentine artist Atilio Boveri (who lived in Mallorca between 1912 and 1915) and a hall showing the pottery found in 1985 during the restoration work of the building.

This room also displays a big mandala of Kalachakra donated to the town of Pollença by the Dalai Lama.

In the afternoon will be screened Anglada Camarasa. La llum de l'illa  (Anglada Camarasa. The light of the Island), by Manu Balaguer and Agustí Torres. This documentary brings us closer to the figure of Hermén Anglada-Camarasa (Barcelona, 1871-Pollença, 1959), a painter who put the Balearic Islands in the international spotlight of the artistic life of his time. With music by Joan Valent, is interpreted by Pep Tosar, Mercè Solé, Ernest Serrahima, Josep Torrents, Jesus Ferrer and Manel Bartomeus.

After the screening there will be a debate involving Agustí Torres and Silvia Pizarro, Anglada Camarasa granddaughter.
