Musical adaptation of the epic poem La deixa del Geni Grec (the legacy of the Greek genius), written in 1900 by the Majorcan writer and ecclesiastic Miquel Costa i Llobera (Pollença, 1854 - Palma, 1922).
Nureddunna is the name of the protagonist of this known poem, granddaughter of the high priest and Sibyl of the tribe who lived in the grove of oak trees of Ses Paisses. The plot of the play is set in the proto-historical time when the first colonizing expeditions came to this land.
Awarded at the Juegos de Flores de Barcelona in 1902, La deixa del Geni Grec was turned into an opera in 1947 with the title of Nuredduna, with libretto by Miquel Forteza (1888-1969) and music by Antoni Massana (1890-1966).
Nuredduna is played by Juanjo Monserrat, Laura Picó, Magí Garcias, Toni Morales, Rafel Munar, Faust Morell, Pedro Moyà, Nacho Valestrini, Mar Fiol, Mireia Sans and Joan Fullana.
