Noa in an intimate concert

Torre de Canyamel, a magnificent defensive construction of the XIII century, welcomes this intimate concert by the Israeli artist Noa (Tel Aviv, 1969), which will undoubtedly be one of the most memorable events of the summer in Mallorca. It is held to benefit Antics Monti· sion Solidaris, an association created in 2008 that deals with helping the needy.

Noa - whose real name is Achinoam Nini- admits few presentations. In 1990 she met guitarist and composer Gil Dor and since then form a tandem that sometimes is joined by other artists and groups, especially Arab and Palestinian artists from around the world. Noa was the first Israeli artist formally invited to perform in Marroco, at the Fez Festival of Sacred Music, and in 2003 was named Goodwill Ambassador of the FAO in recognition of her humanitarian work.

Her music is influenced by singers and songwriters of the sixties, such as Paul Simon, Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen. So far she has released 16 albums, the first four produced by Pat Metheny. The last titled Love Medicine (2015) and, in the words of Noa herself, is a work born of observation. One of the songs, Look at the moon, is dedicated to John Paul II.
