Nikolay Borchev (lyric baritone) and Friedrich Suckel (piano) offer a concert with a program entirely dedicated to Franz Schubert, in particular, Winterreise (D. 911) or Winter Journey, a work he composed during his later years.
Born in Belarus in 1980, Borchev is a renowned singer who already in 2003 became a member of the young Ensemble of the Bavarian State Opera in Munich. In 2007 he debuted at the Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels in the role of Moritz in the world premiere of Frühlings Erwachen by Benoît Mernier. He has worked with major orchestras like the Freiburg Baroque, the Berlin or the Munich Chamber. Currently he is a member of the Vienna State Opera.
The German pianist Friedrich Suckel also studied conducting with Professor Rolf Reuter in 2001. During the last two years he has worked regularly with the Baden-Baden Festspielhaus as musical assistant. Since 2010 he is head of the music rehearsal Department of the Leipzig Opera.
