The cycle Estiu al Castell de Bellver dedicates tonight to Ukrainian composers performed by three artists of the same nationality who currently reside in Mallorca: the violinists Soriana Ivaniv and Ana Chakun and the cellist Ella Mykhaylenko.
Soriana Ivaniv, born in Lviv, began her violin studies at the age of 7 and later graduated from the Superior Conservatory of her city with the eminent professor Dimitry Kolbin. She has worked with various symphony orchestras and was the protagonist of the show A Son Amar (Mallorca, 2012). She currently works on projects with the Teatre Principal de Palma and the Orquestra Acadèmia 1830, among others.
Born in Txerníhiv, Ana Chakun is a graduate of the Kiev Higher Conservatory. She currently lives and works in Palma, where she is part of different orchestras.
For her part, Ella Mykhaylenko was born in Donetsk, one of the most war-torn regions in Ukraine. She studied at the Superior Conservatory of St. Petersburg and worked for a year in the Academic Symphony Orchestra of that Russian city. She currently participates in projects at the Teatre Principal de Palma and performs in concerts with the Orquestra Simfòonica Illes Balears.
In this concert she performs works by Ukrainian composers: Mykola Lysenko, Stanyslav Lyudkevych, Myroslav Skoryk, Valentin Silvestrov and Mykola Kollessa.
