The second proposal of the VII International Piano Festival is this recital by Natsumi Ikenaga, one of the youngest and most talented performers of the moment. The festival is held from July 10 to July 14 at Torre de Canyamel, a unique gothic style watch- and defense tower in Mallorca.
Of Japanese descent and born in Ithaca (New York), Natsumi Ikenaga has a Masters in interpretation at the Royal College of Music (RCM) with Dina Parakhina with the support of the Gordon Calway Stone Memorial Award. She previously studied at the Toho Gakuen School of Music in Tokyo under the tutelage of Takahiro Hoshino and Shuku Iwasaki.
Ikenaga has performed in places such as the Mirabel Palace in Salzburg, the Steinway halls (New York and London), the National Gallery, the Albert Museum, Handel House or the Tokyo opera house. She performs regularly with various chamber ensembles, performing a repertoire that ranges from baroque to contemporary music.
The program consists of Prelude and Fugue in D major for Organ, BWV 532, by Johannes Bach-F. Busoni; Transcendental Etudes no. 9 'Ricordanza', by Franz Liszt; Sonata no. 5 in G minor, op. 22, by N. Medtner; 'The Albaicin' from Suite Iberia, by Isaac Albeniz; and Pictures at an Exhibition, by M. Mussorgsky.
