This opera in four acts with music of Giuseppe Verdi, first performed at La Scala in Milan in 1842, closes the XXX Opera Season of the Teatre Principal de Palma. The libretto is by Temistocle Solera, after the play Nabuchodonosor by Auguste Anicet-Bourgeois and Francis Cornu. These, in turn, were inspired by the bible texts from the Second Book of Kings, the Second Book of Chronicles and the prophecies of Jeremiah.
With musical direction by Oliver Diaz and stage direction of Emili Sagi, featuring the cast: Lucio Gallo (Nabucco), Maribel Ortega (Abigaille), Maria Luisa Corbacho (Fene-na), Enrique Ferrer (Ismaele), Luiz-Ottavio Faria (Zaccaria ), Inma Hidalgo (Anna), Josep Miquel Ribot (High Priestess) and Antoni Lliteres (Abdallo). They are accompanied by the Cor del Teatre Principal and the Balearic Symphony Orchestra.
Nabucco is a production of the Teatre Principal de Palma, Opera de Oviedo, Theater St. Gallen, Baluarte de Pamplona and Teatro Jovellanos de Gijon.
