Censorship, repression, murder and exile were the dramatic consequences of the two great totalitarian movements of the twentieth century: communism and Nazism. In this concert, Image Ensemble honors Dohnanyi and Prokofiev, two composers who were victims of both regimes.
The program Music and totalitarianism include Sonata for flute and piano, by Prokofiev, and Sextet DoM, Dohnanyi. Each work will be preceded by an introductory narrative on circumstances of their authors.
Image Ensemble consists of Enrique Sanchez (flute), Jordi Rumbau (clarinet), Nigel Carter (horn), Sebastià Pou (violin), M ª José Gómez de la Vega (viola), Oriol Palau (cello) and Julia Martinez (piano).
The concert is part of the II Chamber Music Festival held at the Sala Dante de Palma.
