Miquel Bennàssar

The acclaimed Mallorcan organist Miquel Bennàssar stars in the second concert of the VII Vila de Santanyí International Music Festival. It presents a program with works created between the sixteenth and twentieth centuries.

Born in Sa Pobla, Miquel Bennàssar began his musical studies with 16 years old, obtaining in 1987 the diploma of piano teacher at the Conservatory of Mallorca. He trained mainly in the Swiss city of Basel in the specialty of organ and historical key instruments with Jean-Claude Zehnder.

As a concert performer, he has performed at the most important historical organ festivals in Europe and is a coordinator and technical consultant in restoration projects of historic organs and new plant in Mallorca. Since 2006 he is artistic director of the cycle Els Matins de l'Orgue / Musica i Mercat, which is held every Saturday at the Grenzing organ (2006) of the church of Sant Bartomeu de Alaró (Mallorca).

On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of this cycle, he has recorded the Improvisacions CD (2017), finalist in the Enderrock awards.

The program presented at the VII Vila de Santanyí International Music Festival is entitled Creacions i emocions and consists of the following pieces:
