It is one of the masterpieces of the history of music and the best known of its author, the German composer Georg Friedrich Handel (Halle, 1685 - London, 1759 ). Regarded as one of the pinnacles of Baroque, he is among the most influential composers of Western music, the first to focus on his music to please the public, rather than for nobility and patrons, as was usual at the time.
Handel composed Messiah HW 56 in 1741 in London in just three weeks. Although it is a work that is traditionally associated with Christmas, especially in the American tradition, this oratorio tells about the life of Jesus, not only of his birth.
This participatory Messiah is directed by Jool Gale and acts as soloists Eleanor Denis (soprano), Rupert Enticknap (countertenor), Sam Furness (tenor) and Benedict Nelson (bass). Involved the Orquesta de Cadaqués, Coro de la Comunidad de Madrid, Cor de Calvià, Cor de Son LLàtzer, Musicantes de Mallorca and individual participants prepared by Irina Capriles.
