This choral concert of G. F. Händel (1685-1759) has become a traditional event on Christmas in Palma. On this occasion it will be directed by Carles Ponseti and will perform the Orfeón Ramon Llull, the Mallorcan Capella, soloists of the Conservatory of Music of the Balearic Islands, the Balearic Youth Orchestra and musicians and singers who, once again, join this initiative.
Although it is custom to link the Messiah with Christmas, we have to remember that this oratorio is not only about the birth of Jesus, but about his whole life. Most of the libretto, written by Charles Jennens, is taken from the Old Testament.
