With only twenty years of age, Mélodie Zhao is one of the promises of the new generation of pianists. Swiss of Chinese origin, and belonging to a family of musicians, she soon got used to the stage and did her first recital when she was six years old.
At age 13 she recorded 24 Etudes of Chopin, at 17 the 12 Transcendental Studies by Liszt and the complete Beethoven Sonatas and in 2013 piano concertos No. 1 and 2 by Tchaikovsky with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande.
She participates in the Chopin Festival with a program consisting of Sonata No. 21 in C Major, Op. 53 'Waldstein' by Beethoven; Aandante Spianato and Grand Polonaise Brillante, Op. 22 by Frederic Chopin; Study of transcendental execution, No. 4 in D minor 'Mazeppa' by Franz Liszt; and 4 Ballades of Frederic Chopin.
