Perhaps better than any other American musician of her generation, Mary Halvorson (Boston, 1980) represents the figure of the total jazz player in the 21st century: creative, original, brilliant, committed to her work, capable of participating in very disparate projects and, at the same time, always sound like herself, personal and non-transferable. In this 29th edition of Mallorca Jazz Sa Pobla Halvorson presents, with her sextet, Amaryllis, one of the ten best jazz records of the year, according to the specialized press.
In addition to working with musicians such as Anthony Braxton, Ingrid Laubrock, Bill Frisell and John Zorn, Halvorson has led some of the most interesting groups in recent years.
In Amaryllis she unites many influences and musical genres from jazz, experimental music, new music and she is confirmed as one of the most relevant voices of the moment.
Amaryllis Sextet is made up of Mary Halvorson (guitar). Nick Dunston (double bass), Adam O'Farrill (trumpet), Jacob Garchik (trombone), Patricia Brennan (vibraphone) and Tomas Fujiwara (drums).
Half of the proceeds will go to the Associació Llar de memòria
