The mezzo from Madrid María José Montiel incarnates the lexicographer María Moliner in this stage biography successfully released at the Teatro de la Zarzuela in 2016 that is now presented in the XXXI Season of Opera and Ballet of the Teatre Principal in Palma.
This recent opera approaches the life of Maria Moliner without forgetting the political edges of the character. It must be remembered that the author of the Dictionary of Use of Spanish, today a reference for writers and journalists, was a very uncomfortable figure in her time.
With music by Majorcan Antoni Perera Fons (Manacor, 1943), awarded the National Music Prize 2016 for Composition, the montage is directed by Cristóbal Soler and has a stage direction by Paco Azorín.
The main roles are interpreted by María José Montiel (María Moliner), José Julián Frontal (Fernando Ramón Ferrando), Isabel Rey (Carmen Conde / Inspector), Gerardo Bullón (Goyanes), Joan Pons (Sillon B) and Celia Alcedo Pardo Bazán). Featuring the Symphonic Orchestra Illes Balears and the Cor del teatre Principal de Palma.
As a complementary activity, a meeting with the artistic team will be held on Thursday, 4 May.
